ImpactIn the end, GE14 saw 82% voter turnout, the second-highest ever despite the weekday poll date. This could not have been done without the carpoolers who criss-crossed the nation, the donors who helped people they had never met, and the overseas voters who stood in airports looking for Malaysians to send their vote home.
PulangMengundi.com connected more than 10,000 Malaysians and matched more than RM105,000 from donors to people who needed help (no accurate figures, people were so excited they usually forgot to update their subsidy or carpool listings). Beyond the numbers, #pulangmengundi meant so much more - from the first-time voters, who shall never forget the power of democracy, to people who never gave up hope after being disappointed time and time again. #pulangmengundi has shown the world what can happen when we all believe every vote matters, no matter the odds or obstacles. We are proud to have been part of the #pulangmengundi movement. |
